Tria began taking half of one of his father's sleeping tablets once or twice a week. During the day, every voice sounded far away. At night he sometimes heard his father call his name after his father had fallen asleep.

The rooftop door at school did not lock. A classmate found the boy there and offered him water.

Some people come up here because they need somewhere they can breathe.

Tria nearly told her about home, the sleeplessness and the voice. He only nodded. These early symptoms were not recognised until after he left home.
